Features

Remedial Counseling (Stabilize)

Short-term crisis intervention for repeated overdrafts, courtesy pay reliance, or negative balances. You leave with a short-term action plan: a budget reset plus a debt plan.

Preventive Counseling (Strengthen)

Mid-term coaching to build healthy habits before problems start: credit score improvement, emergency savings, and better credit card and debt management. Typically a 3 to 6 month plan aimed at measurable improvement.

Productive Counseling (Build)

Long-term planning to help you reach bigger goals: saving for a home, car, or vacation, and preparing for life events like marriage, a new baby, or retirement. You leave with a long-term roadmap and milestones.

Guided Intake, Not a Cold Start

Before your appointment, you'll complete a short questionnaire covering your goals and financial situation. This lets your counselor prepare ahead of time instead of spending your session gathering information.

A Real Appointment, Not a Form

Sessions are private and typically run about an hour for the initial budget analysis and goal-setting, with follow-up sessions as needed. Bring 2 to 3 months of statements and a list of known debts if you have them.

Education Tools Built Around Your Plan

Your counselor assigns education resources (including Banzai courses) matched to your goals, covering topics like budgeting, credit, managing debt, and life events.

FAQs

Is there follow-up after my appointment?

Yes. Counselors schedule a 3 or 6 month check-in to measure improvement and adjust your plan as needed.

What kind of plan will I leave with?

It depends on your situation. Remedial counseling focuses on a short-term action plan (stopping fees, stabilizing your budget). Preventive counseling builds a 3 to 6 month plan around credit and savings habits. Productive counseling maps out a longer-term roadmap for goals like buying a home or preparing for a life event.

Do I have to be referred, or can I request counseling myself?

Either. Counseling is member-driven, meaning you choose what to work on. A referral can come from you directly or from a staff member who noticed something that might help, but it's always offered as a resource, never required.

Is there a cost for financial counseling?

No. This is free coaching focused on your goals, including budgeting, credit, debt, and savings strategies.
