Larry Matunas says goodbyeAugust 29, 2016 4:16 pm
After 32+ faithful years of service to Energy One, Larry Matunas has decided to hang up his hat on September 7. Larry started at Energy One on February 22, 1984 when our name was Tulsa Cities Service Federal Credit Union, named to reflect our major sponsor group at the time, Cities Service Oil and Gas (now Occidental Petroleum). He had previously worked at a former Tulsa bank.
At that time, we had seven employees and just one office. Larry has helped Energy One grow into a multi-faceted institution with several employees and branches, serving members all over the country and internationally. With his assistance and guidance, Energy One can offer members any type of loan from a credit card to a car loan to a home loan.
Throughout his career, Larry has prided himself on maintaining an atmosphere of assistance with purchase and loan decisions and leading members in a direction that will help them be financially successful. That extended to his employees as well, and he helped many of them have success in their careers.
Larry is a proud and devoted husband and father of two. As his children were growing up, he volunteered for their local school district and was an ardent supporter of the booster club. He has been a great asset to the school and has a lot of pride for Glenpool schools and the Warriors football team. His other loves are Notre Dame football and Chicago Cubs baseball. In fact, he’s retiring in time to go watch the Cubbies win the World Series. We know this’ll be the year, Larry!
Family and friends are a big part of Larry’s life. One of the things he looks most forward to in retirement is to travel more with his wife to visit their families, which are now spread to different parts of the country. His loyalty to friends and family is a cherished part of him.
We know that Larry has touched many of your lives over the last 32 years, and ask you to join us in congratulating him on a great career and wishing him well in retirement. Larry, we thank you and appreciate your dedication to the credit union. We will miss working with you every day, but most of all we are grateful for your friendship.
A retirement open house will be held on Wednesday, September 7. Come and go between 1 and 6 PM in the lobby at Energy One’s headquarters at One Warren Place. The address is 6100 S Yale Ave, Suite 100, Tulsa OK 74136.
If you can’t stop by to say goodbye in person, you can send a card to that address, or use the form below to give him your regards.
