Identity Theft Protection
Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes, but we want you to know that we value and protect your security. We have several measures in place that we offer our membership:
Visa check card protection—FraudWatch PLUS
This automated tool will monitor your Visa check card usage trends and notify you when any transactions seem out of the ordinary. For FraudWatch PLUS to work properly, we must have current, working phone numbers for you, and a password on file. Please contact the credit union to ensure your information is up-to-date.
Identity theft protection—AlertMe
This credit-monitoring tool gives early warning of activity on your credit report. Since credit report activity can be a sign of possible identity theft, early detection can help you catch problems quickly to minimize losses. AlertMe will also send you an email to remind you to order your annual free credit reports, and it provides up to $25,000 in cash to help cover any expenses you may incur if you do become a victim. The AlertMe cost is $4.25 month. Quarterly and annual plans are available at a reduced rate. To enroll, login to Online Bank and click "AlertMe" under the Services menu on the left.
Online banking protection—Multi–Factor Authentication
This security feature works 24/7 to protect your Online Bank account, even when you're not online! For frequently asked questions about MFA, click here. It helps guard against fraudulent logons, phishing—malicious requests for your personal information, and identity theft. Multi-Factor Authentication makes your account harder to compromise, because it relies on more than just a password for access. You will be shown a picture and a phrase each time you login, to prove to you that you're at the authentic Online Bank site, and you will register the computer(s) you use to access your account. Any attempts to login made from an unregistered computer will prompt the system to ask for further verification, such as the answers to secret questions you have previously set up.
Statistics for 2006 are not yet available, but in 2005, 90% of identity theft occurred off-line, according to the Better Business Bureau. Going through trash and mail were among the most common ways to victimize someone. The BBB recommends that you bank entirely online to protect yourself. That's why Energy One offers the full suite of online banking options for free. Online Bank allows you to monitor your accounts in real-time, so you can catch suspicious activity as it happens! Bill Pay keeps your checks out of the mail and your account number private. E-Statements also keep your account numbers and information out of the mail. Sign up for free at www.energyone.org and remember that Energy One is here to protect you.

Check Re-ordering
Check printing fees vary by design. All checks are duplicate carbon copy checks and your original checks are retained by the credit union for safekeeping. However, check copies are available upon request. We encourage members to order their checks through the credit union.
If you order your checks somewhere other than the credit union, please be advised that you may not use checks in the 9,000-10,000 series, or in the 80,000-90,000 series. These check numbers are reserved for loan account checks and will not post properly to your checking account. You will be responsible for fees incurred to replace checks of the above named series.
